Having been raised by a pack of wolves, Kitty’s howling comes naturally. Well, she is part Cherokee, did live in a teepee with some Indians in the mountains of Colorado, and has a great love for all fellow wild creatures. In actuality, Kitty was born in Miami, Fla, left for Gainesville, Fla. and worked part-time at local radio station answering phones – her first foray into the radio world. The owner of the broadcast group, Bob Brown, became her mentor and later hired Kitty to be his assistant at his home base in Winston-Salem, NC. When he initiated the premiere rock radio station, WKZL, Kitty fessed up the fact that she was not a “business” girl, but a true rocker at heart, and the seat behind the mic was calling to her. Down to the basement studio she went and stayed, hosting and developing a 2-hour Sunday night special, “A Touch of Jazz”. Kitty got married, had a baby (Lucas, now 23!), and took a break from the airwaves until WRDU 106.1 called.
